About - Umbrella Studios

My name is Sarah “Rain” Lawrence. I founded Umbrella Studios in 2013 and we have been growing ever since! I’ve been working in the photographic industry for over 15 years and I love everything about it. I started doing families and kids. I did my first wedding in 2005 and never looked back! I learn something new at every event and I love to grow.

Over the years, I’ve met some amazingly talented people. I’ve learned a lot from others and am thrilled to have brought some of them on into the business. These other photographers come with me to weddings or assist on portrait sessions. Going forward, we’re excited to expand the business!

I have a fine art background and love to bring that perspective to my photography work. I’ve studied art at the Perpich Center for the Arts, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Maryland Institute College of Art, and the College of St. Catherine. I also like to give back and teach others as well!
