Annika newborn pictures
This sweet little girl was in a bit of a hurry to meet everyone and caught her parents a bit by surprise. I was so thrilled to take her newborn pictures and get to cuddle her a bit myself! Getting to hold newborns is one of my favorite parts of my job. She was so sweet and tiny! It’s such an amazing opportunity to be able to follow along with this family. I had a great time working with them on their maternity portraits a few weeks before her arrival! I am extremely grateful for the ability to document these important events in their lives.

Hellgirl costume
I absolutely love Halloween. It’s a lot of fun for me! I was just thrilled when I was asked by the supremely talented Ally H to photograph her Hellgirl costume on Halloween. It’s a female version of Hellboy. So cool! I always have such a wonderful time working with her and this was no exception. I hope you enjoy a little deviation from the norm here!

Lake Harriet Lesbian Engagement
When marriage equality passed I had a big upswing in glbtq couples inquiring about wedding photography. I also ran a promotion and covered two gay weddings for free. I’ve been so very thrilled to have been a part of the push for marriage equality. Now that it’s here, I can not fully express how happy I am to be help capture the real and passionate joy of these couples.
Christy and Renee have been in love for over 15 years and I think their love and devotion shines brightly in how they look at each other. They wanted to incorporate their sweet basset hounds into their engagement pictures and I was happy to have them along. We hit a few different places at Lake Harriet and the adjacent Peace Garden. They warmed up pretty quickly and were just a delight to work with!
After their session they had the most kind things to say about how much they enjoyed it! The feeling was completely mutual.

Military Wedding Reception
This was a very joyful military wedding reception. You know everyone is having a good time when not only the bride and groom are embarrassed by the toasts, but the person giving the speech embarrasses themselves as well! The couple cut their cake with a saber and then had Star Wars light sabers form an arch to their first dance. There were lots of really fun airplane touches. Such a fun group.
This is a great time to remind clients that I do offer a military discount for service members and their families!

Minneapolis St. Paul maternity photography
I photographed this wonderful couple’s wedding a few years ago and was thrilled to do their maternity session. I love being able to follow my clients as their families grow and change. Congratulations!

Injured Photographer
I had an unfortunate kitchen accident this past Friday the 13th. Now, I’ve never had an unpleasant association with the date and am generally not a superstitious person. But this was not a good day for me.
The short, not gross version is I hurt myself on Friday and ended up having emergency hand surgery over night into Saturday morning. My surgeon was absolutely fantastic. She showed me how she could tell what was wrong just by how my fingers fell as she rolled my hand.
I mostly slept while in the hospital but eventually I took a couple snap shots on my phone of my post op fun.
A few days after I was discharged, I went in to the hand therapy office to get my splint. The post surgical bandages and split was apparently temporary. I kind of liked it though! It was very sturdy. It had to so though. It certainly wouldn’t last very long!
Getting the surgical dressings removed sucked but it was neat watching them make my splint. I told them it made me feel like a storm trooper. They didn’t get the reference. Ack!
I was not thrilled about the whole thing really so I posted a silly picture of myself expressing my feelings on the subject…
I am very upset that I was unable to work as much as I would like. I purchased some adaptive equipment and I’m optimistic that I’ll be able to get back to it within the next few weeks.
Please forgive me if it takes a bit longer for me to get back to people. I am of course typing one handed and I have a lot of medical appointments.
Thank you for all the support and well wishes during this difficult time. I really do appreciate it.
