I love a winter wedding! When it gets cold here in Minnesota, even the bravest of us tend to tuck ourselves away in our homes. When the thaw finally comes in spring, we rediscover neighbors and the ability to walk without waddling like a penguin. A winter wedding is a wonderful way to bring family and friends together when we need it most!
This St. Paul wedding was especially stunning with all the seasonal details. The red bridesmaid dresses and accents of snowflake designs made everything warm and inviting. The St. Paul Athletic Club was the perfect venue for this intimate and classic wedding. having everything all together made it easy for guests to stay in the attached hotel and come down to the venue for the event. All the little architectural details just sing!
On the day we did their engagement pictures, it was during a record setting heat wave here in the cities. It was a good thing they had a few outfits planned because we were fighting the heat hard! We joked at the time that if nothing else, their wedding would definitely be much cooler. I was afraid I had jinxed it but we were very fortunate in that it was quite a mild winter day. We walked down to Rice Park for some portraits of the couple and their wedding party. They were so fun to work with and everyone was happy to try new and fun things. Rice Park is also where they got engaged so it had a special significance for them.
The ceremony was small and sweet in the main room of the St. Paul Athletic Club. After the “I do”s, everyone went upstairs to the ball room for the reception. The toasts were so sweet, everyone was in tears. The first dance was a show stopper with how perfectly picturesque it was. The bride made use of the balcony for her bouquet toss and then we were off to dance the night away!
